Black Fashion Week USA was held on Saturday/Sunday, August 6th and 7th, 2016. It was an event that is all about African American fashion/designers and their culture. The two-day weekend was for fashion industries businesses. It included educational workshops/seminars, student designer showcase and small fashion presentations. There were special events featuring the latest top African American Fashion Designers, Boutiques and more. To name a few, N’Genious, Dez De Me’ “House of Styles”, Luv That Scrub Homemade Bath and Body products, Matte Lip Paints, Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry and Anjel’s Boutique.
The best performances that were at Black Fashion Week were the fashion shows. A couple of the designers that had models display their designs through a runway fashion show were Anjel’s Boutique and Dez DE Me’. The boutiques were AMAZING and OUT OF THIS WORLD! There was a lot of thought, time and hard work put into their clothing. You can definitely the African American culture coming to life by being at the Black Fashion Week USA.
Also, the greatest thing about Black Fashion Week is they have a Purple Carpet Project NFP. It is a Non-Profit Organization that helps give scholarships out to students of color to serve as a mentoring and help alleviate financial stress for those who want to excel in beauty, fashion and art. They will be hosting fashion shows and special events for minority individuals and organizations overcoming lupus/diabetes. This is a great way to get out in the community and show support, but also help those in needs. Donations are welcome toward the Purple Carpet Project NFP.
